Temple Sorcerer

#class/cleric

Cleric associated with the Temple.

Some people are able to harness the power inherent in the intersection of their domain and the world itself, creating magical effects. These folk are usually trained up by the appropriate Order, but it is not a hard requirement. The power to do magic explicitly flows via the flows of power in the world and managed by their Order. For example, a Grave Domain cleric in the Order of the Grave would harness the power created at moments of death, as power flows back into the world from a life. This does not require a specific death, as there is always infinite latent power in the millions of small deaths (plants, insects, mold, etc) that occur, and because that energy lingers for some time as it flows back into a new form. A Healing Domain cleric would harness the flow into living things which occur when they heal and grow. Both effectively harness what would be analogous to energy lost to friction in a mechanical flow of energy, but in this case it is more magic than physics (and heat).

As they become more experienced they are able to do it more efficiently, hence higher level spells. Frustratingly to a high-level cleric, a novice casting Cure Wounds uses a similar amount of power to a master casting True Resurrection -- it is just much more noisy, messy, and inefficient to those who understand. This doesn't matter in practice, but is a measure of skill and talent amongst Temple Sorcerers, the masters are much more tidy and efficient: an 15th level Cleric casting Cure Wounds at 1st level uses much less power and is much more tidy than a 1st level Cleric casting the same spell for the same effect.
